Ryan Kindhardt, an Army veteran who served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, spends an hour of quality time each morning with his son Kingsley, 9-months, and his therapy dog Tank, relaxing near the picture window in their home in Quincy, before he goes to work. Tank was injured in a hit-and-run accident Saturday, requiring surgery to repair a featured leg. Tank provides comfort to Ryan when he suffers from survivor’s guilt. Ryan says Tank has saved his life, and he wants to use the entire experience of Tank’s accident and recovery to bring attention to veterans who continue to suffer from their wartime experiences. “Tank has taken care of me and now I’m nursing him back from his wounds,” Ryan said.
